The Delhi Commission for Women has issued a notice to the Center and the Delhi government, taking cognizance of media reports on the rise in sudden death cases in the country. The Commission says that these cases have raised serious concerns. It is being speculated that the death in this way is somehow related to Kovid-19.
Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal has issued a notice to the Director General of Health Services of the Central and Delhi government in this matter. Notice has also been issued to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The commission has also sought details of any committees constituted by the concerned departments to investigate these deaths. It has also sought information about the steps taken to create awareness among the people about the causes of the deaths as well as the precautions that people should be advised to take.
The commission has also asked about the steps taken by the governments to study the long term impact of the COVID-19 virus on the health of the people. Information has also been sought about getting the investigation done by the Central Forensic and Biomedical Team. Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal said that the country has come across some unfortunate incidents of sudden deaths.
Many videos showing this are going viral, in which young and old people are seen suddenly dying while doing routine work. There should be an immediate inquiry into the causes of such deaths. If these cases are related to Kovid-19, then the government should make a strategy to deal with such cases.
